1. Squeeze sides of unit to help release clip end.
2. Slide 9V battery into compartment, terminal side first, matching (+) and (-) terminals from
battery to case.
3. Replace the clip. Battery life is approximately 50 hours.
Using the detector
1. Position the unit flat against the wall.
2. Press on/off button and hold in.
3. Slowly slide unit horizontally across the wall, right or left. As you begin to approach a stud,
the Yellow LEDs will light, from bottom to top.
4. When the top Red LED is light and the beep sound, you have located the edge of the stud.
Mark this spot.
5. Continue scanning beyond the marked spot until the yellow LEDs go out. Slide unit in reverse
direction to locate other edge of stud.
6. Mark this second spot. Between the two spots is the stud position.
AC Wire warning
AC wire warning is active in all modes, automatically detecting hot AC wiring up to 3 inches deep.
The Stud Finder detects from 90 to 250 V at 50 to 60 Hz AC in a hot electrical wire. The voltage
detection feature works continuously in Stud Finder modes. When sensing voltage, the small
AC light comes on.
